We are ready for a royal change. The upcoming television anime Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga - Sūgū Chōso Torikae Den, also known as Though I Am an Inept Villainess, has finally shared its full trailer. We have seen the vibrant colors and the high stakes of the imperial court. This story takes us to a land inspired by historical China where five clans fight for the crown. It is not just about politics; it is about survival and magical body swaps. We love a good mess in the palace, don't we?

A New Voice for the Opening

Video de YouTube

Music is the soul of every series. We are excited to announce that the singer-songwriter milet is performing the opening theme song titled "Sunny". This marks a special milestone for her. We have heard her before in major hits like the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, but this is her first time leading an opening as a solo artist. The trailer gives us a little taste of her powerful vocals. It sounds like a summer hit!

The production team at Dōga Kōbō is working hard under the direction of Mitsue Yamazaki. We know their style well from Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. They always bring a certain charm to the screen. Here are some key details about the music and production:

  • milet brings her unique energy to the track "Sunny".
  • Yoshiko Nakamura is managing the series scripts.
  • Ai Kikuchi is in charge of the beautiful character designs.
  • The soundtrack is composed by Masato Nakayama.

The Cast and Special Guests

Who is hiding behind these characters? We have new names joining the voice cast. Kaito Ishikawa will play Kou Reishou, while Kenyuu Horiuchi takes on Kou Kenryuu. Other additions include Reina Ueda as Kou Tenshun, Ai Kayano as Kou Reigyoku, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Kin Seishou. It is a star-studded lineup that makes us want to watch it right now.

But wait, there is more glamour! We discovered that former top stars from the Takarazuka Revue, Madoka Hoshikaze and Hana Jun, are the special supporters for the project. Imagine the elegance they bring to the table. We are also expecting preview screenings on June 21 and a special "Big Hit Prayer Event" on June 28 in Tokyo. They are really going all out for this release!

The Butterfly and the Rat

The plot is a wild ride. We follow Kou Reirin, the delicate "butterfly" of the court. She is the favorite to become empress. However, Shu Keigetsu, known as the "court rat," has other plans. After a magical incident at the Lantern Festival, they swap bodies. Reirin wakes up in a dungeon, but she isn't crying. She finally has a healthy body! We find it hilarious that she is more excited about her physical strength than worried about her execution. Is there anything better than a positive attitude in a crisis?

Mark Your Calendars for July

We had to wait a bit longer than expected. The premiere was originally planned for April but faced some production delays. Now, the official date is July 12. We can watch it on TV Tokyo or stream it internationally. Crunchyroll will be the home for this series in many regions, including North America and Europe. We are counting down the days to see Reirin navigate her new life with her robust "rat" body.

The original light novels by Satsuki Nakamura have been a success since 2020. With 12 volumes already out in Japan, there is plenty of material to explore. We are curious to see how the butterfly-rat swap plays out on screen. Do you prefer stories about court intrigue or total body-swap chaos? Let us know what you think!
