The story is not closing its gates yet. Daemons of the Shadow Realm, the anime based on Hiromu Arakawa’s Yomi no Tsugai, has officially confirmed a second season. The announcement arrived right after the last episode of the first season aired on Sunday, leaving fans with that sharp feeling in the chest that only a continuation can calm.

A new chapter is already on the way

The first season finished its run, and almost immediately, the production revealed that Season 2 is in development. For many viewers, this was the news they were waiting for like a light behind a paper door. The series still has many secrets breathing under the surface, so the continuation feels natural and needed.

This anime adapts the manga by Hiromu Arakawa, known for works like Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon. Since its debut, Yomi no Tsugai has carried a heavy, quiet tension, the kind that stays with you after the episode ends.

What is Daemons of the Shadow Realm about?

At the center of the story is Yuru, a boy living in a distant mountain village watched over by two stone guardians. His life seems peaceful, simple, almost like a river moving without noise. But that calm breaks when the truth around his twin sister Asa begins to show its teeth.

Asa is kept inside a cage while carrying out a mysterious duty for the village. That single image already says so much. A sister locked away. A brother trying to understand. A home filled with hidden cracks. The mystery of why Asa is treated as a prisoner remains one of the emotional pillars of the series.

The team behind the anime

The adaptation brought together a strong creative staff. Masahiro Andō, known for Sword of the Stranger, directs the anime at Bones Film. The series composition is handled by Noboru Takagi, while Nobuhiro Arai works on character designs and also serves as chief animation director.

For music, the anime leans on Kenichiro Suehiro, whose work helps give the series that uneasy pulse, like footsteps in fog.

The anime premiered on April 4 at 11:30 p.m. in Japan on channels including Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV. It also aired on several other regional stations across the country.

The first season ran for two consecutive cours, giving the story time to breathe and slowly tighten its grip. Outside Japan, Crunchyroll streamed the series ahead of other services and also offered a same-day English dub.

The manga keeps moving forward

If you came to the anime and now want more, the manga is still growing. Hiromu Arakawa launched Yomi no Tsugai in Monthly Shonen Gangan in December 2021. The series has continued building its world step by step, and Volume 13 was published on July 10.
