Rich Girl Caretaker Anime: New Cast, Release Date, and Global Streaming Details
Kentarō Kumagai joins the summer romance, as Crunchyroll secures worldwide streaming rights for the gap-moe light novel adaptation.

You find yourself drawn into a world where appearances are a carefully crafted performance, a theme that lies at the heart of the upcoming anime adaptation of Rich Girl Caretaker (Saijo no Osewa). The official website has unfurled a second promotional video, pulling back the curtain further on this story of hidden identities and delicate care, while also introducing a new voice to its ensemble.
A New Voice in the Ensemble

Joining the cast is Kentarō Kumagai, who will voice the character Katsuya Taishō. His addition weaves another thread into the social tapestry of this prestigious school setting. The anime is scheduled to make its delicate debut in the quiet hours of July 4, effectively premiering on July 5 at 2:38 a.m. JST, with broadcasts following on TV Tokyo and BS Asahi. For a global audience, the series will find a home on Crunchyroll, streaming across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India—a testament to the universal appeal of its premise.
The Creative Hands Behind the Curtain
Guiding this production is director Shūsei Morishita, known for his work on School Babysitters, suggesting a nuanced understanding of caretaker dynamics. The series scripts are overseen by Aya Yoshinaga, a veteran with credits on classics like Crest of the Stars. Character designs, which must capture the duality of a perfect public facade and a private, unskilled self, are entrusted to Nao Kawashima. The auditory landscape is shaped by sound director Takeshi Takadera (Laid-Back Camp, Oshi no Ko), with music composed by the collaborative team of Natsumi Tabuchi, Hanae Nakamura, and Mayo Kurihara. The opening theme, "Sai Sai Saikōkyū no Osewa Shite" (Top Top Top Grade Caretaking), will be performed by angela, while Ami Maeshima lends her voice to the ending theme, "Kanpeki Janai Watashi" (Imperfect Me)—a title that speaks directly to the heroine's core conflict.
From Page to Screen
The story originates from the light novel series by Yusaku Sakaishi, with illustrations by Sakura Miwabe, published under Hobby Japan's HJ Bunko label since May 2021. The 11th volume was released in October of last year, demonstrating the story's enduring appeal. A manga adaptation by Sorahiko Mizushima has been serialized online since September 2021, with its sixth volume published just this week. The plot centers on Itsuki Tomonari, an ordinary high school boy who, after a chance involvement in a kidnapping, becomes the secret caretaker for Hinako Konohana. Publicly, she is the brilliant, charming heiress to a vast conglomerate; privately, she is a hopelessly lazy girl devoid of basic life skills. Forced by family to maintain her "perfect young lady" persona at school, Hinako relies entirely on Itsuki's devoted care, a dependency that slowly blossoms into something more intimate and profound.
A Global Release, Shrouded in Uncertainty
The path to an English release for the novels has been less straightforward. Announced in October 2023 by Monogatari Novels under the title Rich Girl Caretaker: I'm Secretly the Caregiver of the Most Popular Girl in This Rich Kid School, the venture has encountered logistical hurdles. While an Amazon listing suggested a March 2026 ship date, it now notes the work is out of print. The publisher cited "issues with customs as a result of new tariffs" in a May 2025 statement, leaving future dates undetermined and its website currently inaccessible. This stands in contrast to the smooth, wide-reaching anime distribution, highlighting the sometimes-fragile chain that brings these stories overseas. For fans of the author, J-Novel Club continues to release Sakaishi's other series, The Holy Knight’s Dark Road, in English.
It is a love story that begins not with a meeting of equals, but with a transaction of care, a narrative about the spaces between roles—master and servant, perfect and imperfect, the seen and the unseen. As July approaches, audiences worldwide will have the chance to see how this delicate relationship unfolds on screen.
