MAPPA Store in China Hires Reze Cosplayer as Cashier
MAPPA's official store in China drove fans wild by having Reze work at the checkout counter.

The studio MAPPA knows exactly how to empty otaku's wallets. The renowned animation house has just given a marketing masterclass at its first flagship store in Shanghai, China. Instead of having a bored, uniformed employee at the counter, they decided to place a worker doing an impeccable cosplay of Reze, the explosive waifu from Chainsaw Man, operating the cash register as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
An explosive strategy to sell merchandise
Images of the shop went viral this weekend across all social media platforms. In the photos, you can see the girl sporting the Bomb Girl's iconic hairstyle and outfit, ringing up customers' purchases with massive Jujutsu Kaisen posters behind her. Far from being a one-day special event, this stroke of genius is part of the daily operation of the establishment that opened its doors in March 2026, with the firm goal of directly connecting with its massive fan base in the Asian market.

As expected, the internet lost its mind and people started simping en masse. In the forums, the comments are gold; from guys claiming they would "buy her entire stock of holy water if she were selling it," to fans begging to take her home. Of course, there was no shortage of classic jokes about the "explosive prices" of the products. The studio's move was a resounding success, as hundreds of users admitted they would go in to spend their savings just for the experience of being served by her.
About the Reze craze in Chainsaw Man
For those not up to date, Reze is a Bomb Devil hybrid and one of the most charismatic characters in Tatsuki Fujimoto's brutal story. Her popularity within the Chainsaw Manfandom was already ridiculously high, but it skyrocketed completely after the theatrical release of the long-awaited film Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc in late 2025. Taking advantage of all the hype left by the movie, the studio understood that having this character ringing up customers face-to-face would be the perfect hook to keep sales at the top.
Knowing that official stores are increasingly looking for more immersive ways to grab our money, would you spend half your paycheck on merchandise just for the luxury of having your favorite waifu serve you at the checkout?
