Devil May Cry Returns for its Final Act: Paradiso is Coming

We are ready for the grand finale. Netflix just dropped the news about the third and final season of the Devil May Cry animated series. This project, born from the collaboration with Studio Mir, is reaching its peak faster than a Dante combo. We have followed the white-haired demon hunter through hell, and now it is time to look up at the sky. It is going to be a wild ride, and we are absolutely thrilled about it!

A Trilogy Inspired by Classic Literature

Showrunner Adi Shankar is playing a clever game with us. He recently revealed that the entire series is actually a movie trilogy disguised as a television show. We love a good structural secret! The narrative follows the steps of Dante's Divine Comedy, but with significantly more bullets and stylish action. This journey is officially known as The Force Edge Saga.

• Season 1: Represented Inferno.
• Season 2: Represented Purgatorio (released this past May 12).
• Season 3: Will represent Paradiso, closing the circle.

Did you catch the episode titles? They were clues all along! It is funny how we sometimes miss what is right in front of our noses while watching Dante slash through demons. We are curious to see how a "Paradise" looks when you have a Rebellion sword on your back.

The Success of the Son of Sparda

The numbers do not lie, and we know CAPCOM fans are loyal. The first season premiered in April 2025 and it was a total hit. It debuted at #4 on the global top 10 list with over 5.3 million views in just three days. It even reached the top 10 in 87 countries! Not bad for a guy who just wants to eat pizza and hunt monsters, right?

The voice cast remains legendary in both languages. In the English version, Johnny Yong Bosch brings Dante to life. We also find Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary (Lady) and a very special posthumous performance by Kevin Conroy as VP Baines. For those of us who prefer the Japanese dub, the iconic Toshiyuki Morikawa returns as Dante, accompanied by Fumiko Orikasa and Hiroaki Hirata as Vergil.

Expanding the Bootleg Multiverse

This series is part of what Shankar calls the "bootleg multiverse," sharing a spiritual space with his previous work on Castlevania. While Devil May Cry has had other adaptations, like the 2007 Madhouse anime or the Devil May Cry: The Live Hacker stage play, this Netflix version feels like the definitive modern vision of the franchise. We can't wait to see the final showdown between the brothers.
