Surviving the first day of school as a rookie teacher is a daunting challenge. If you also have an extremely fragile physical constitution and a barely audible voice, high school students might eat you alive or, in the worst-case scenario, turn you into a terrifying urban legend. This Wednesday, a new promotional trailer was released for the anime adaptation of the romantic comedy manga written and illustrated by Kamio Fukuchi, Yowayowa Sensei. The production committee confirmed through this video that the episodes will arrive on Japanese television on April 11 via networks such as AT-X and Tokyo MX.

The animated sequences brought musical updates for the project. The preview featured a snippet of the song "COMIT COMET," a track performed by the popular singer and rapper Daoko that will serve as the official opening. Meanwhile, the ending will be titled "Yowayowa Tsuyotsuyo Minimini Kowakowa" and will be performed directly by the voice actresses of the main characters: Marika Kono, Yurie Igoma, and Yu Sasahara.

Details of Yowayowa Sensei

The overall production of this fun school comedy is being handled at the Brains Base studio facilities. The technical team is led by Hiroshi Ishiodori, who serves as the main director. The responsibility for structuring the series composition falls to Yoshifumi Fukushima. The original character designs are being adapted for animation by designer Naoki Aisaka. The background soundtrack is a joint effort between composers Akifumi Tada and Rina Tayama.

The announcement reaffirmed the participation of the vocal talent that makes up the series' main voice cast:

  • Marika Kono as Hiyori Hiwamura.

Internationally known by the otaku community for voicing Silence Suzuka in the hit franchise Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.

  • Kakeru Hatano as Akihito Abikura.

An emerging actor seeking to consolidate his leading career by lending his voice to the only student who understands the teacher.

About the Work

Kamio Fukuchi began publishing this story in the pages of the emblematic Weekly Shonen Magazine by publisher Kodansha in November 2022. The peculiar mix of humor, misunderstandings, and charm managed to win over Japanese readers, solidifying its weekly serialization. The commercial success of the printed work will allow for the release of its seventeenth compiled volume in physical stores in Japan on April 16, just a few days after the anime's television premiere.

Synopsis of Yowayowa Sensei

The plot introduces us to Hiyori Hiwamura, a young high school teacher recently graduated from university. The problem lies in the fact that Hiyori has an incredibly soft voice, gets exhausted with the slightest effort, and is extremely weak in practically everything she does. This extreme fragility awakens the protective instinct of anyone who knows her closely. However, at school, students misinterpret her silent and fearful personality, believing she is the terrifying teacher of rumors capable of cursing anyone who makes her angry. Despite the constant misunderstandings, she does her best for her students every day. Amidst this chaos, Akihito Abikura, a student in her class, is the only person in the entire school who manages to see her true and tender nature.

Do you think the dynamic of the weak teacher and the protective student will manage to stand out among the romantic comedies of the spring season?
