WIT Studio Announces LONA: A New Sci-Fi Mystery for 2027
Discover the Laboratory of Optics and Neural Analysis and its journey into the memories of the dead

Asumadre, look at what WIT Studio just dropped! We are still recovering from their previous hits and they already have a new original anime cooking in the oven. This project is called LONA (Laboratory of Optics and Neural Analysis) and it looks like a total trip. Pucha, we have to wait until April 2027 to see it, but the first details are already giving us goosebumps. It is a sci-fi story that mixes investigations with a touch of the afterlife.

A plot that will mess with your head

The story takes us to a broken world in the near future. Things are getting really weird because humanity is facing a mystery that sounds like a nightmare: people are being attacked by humans who are supposed to be dead. It’s like a zombie apocalypse but with a high-tech brain twist. The government doesn't know what to do, so they call the experts at LONA.
We will follow Ao, a seasoned researcher, and her apprentice Sango. Their mission is to dive into the neural circuits of the deceased to find out what happened. They are basically memory hackers! We find it super interesting to explore what people leave behind before they die. What kind of secrets are hidden in those deep depths? It’s a mostro concept that combines science with deep emotions.
The dream team behind the scenes
WIT Studio is not playing around with the staff for this one. They have gathered a group of legends to make sure LONA looks and sounds incredible. This is some serious chamba:
- Director: Takashi Katagiri (the genius behind Spy x Family Movie: Code: White).
- Original Character Design: Posuka Demizu (yes, the one from Yakusoku no Neverland!).
- Music: Hiroko Sebu (she made us cry in Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai).
- Sound Director: Shouji Hata (from the masterpiece Sousou no Frieren).
With this team, the visual style is going to be a masterpiece. Posuka Demizu has a very unique way of drawing that fits this mysterious vibe perfectly. Also, having the animation producer from Spy x Family, Kazuki Yamanaka, gives us a lot of peace of mind. Quality is guaranteed!

Meet the main voices
The cast is already confirmed and we are excited to see how they bring these characters to life. Minako Kotobuki will play Ao, while Anna Nagase takes the role of Sango. We also have Fuuka Izumi voicing a character named Mugen. We are dying to know how these three will interact while they analyze dead brains. It sounds like a lot of drama is coming our way!
Why you should keep an eye on LONA
Original anime are always a gamble, but when WIT Studio is involved, we bet all our chips on them. They have a talent for creating worlds that feel alive and slightly melancholic. Are you ready to dive into the memories of the dead? We definitely are, even if we have to wait a couple of years.
Tell us, what do you think about this premise? Does it sound too spooky or just perfect? Join our community and share your theories about the mystery of LONA!
