The task of animating the chaotic yet endearing interactions of this new family falls to the facilities of studio Lay-duce. The lead director's chair is occupied by Hitoshi Nanba, who is supported by Megumi Shimizu in the composition and structuring of the series scripts. The friendly and attractive character designs are being adapted for the screen by the duo of Shiori Hiraiwa and Yoko Fukushima. To provide rhythm to the comedic and everyday situations, the original soundtrack is being composed by musical artist Gin.

The teaser stood out especially for the revelation of the new actors joining the main voice cast, thus completing the group of Narita siblings:

  • Naomi Ozora as Ito Narita.

The voice of the sweet and hardworking older sister who tries by all means to maintain peace and win the affection of her new family.

  • Toshiki Masuda as Gen Narita.

The actor in charge of playing the distant and cold eldest brother of the boys, who hides a kind side beneath his indifferent facade.

  • Taku Yashiro as Raku Narita.

Renowned seiyuu who joins the project to bring to life one of the charismatic and energetic younger brothers.

  • Kensho Ono as Syu Narita.

A star of the dubbing industry who will bring his immense talent to the dynamics of this chaotic brotherhood.

  • Momoka Terasawa as Rui Narita.

The voice in charge of closing the main lineup by playing the youngest and most adorable member of the Narita family.

About the work

Mangaka Akira Ozaki began publishing this tender story in the pages of Bessatsu Margaret magazine by Shueisha in January 2020. Its fresh approach to family relationships and cohabitation earned it immense popularity, managing to inspire a successful live-action film that premiered in Japanese theaters in December 2024. With 14 compiled volumes published as of July 2025, the work has plenty of material to justify this robust 24-episode television adaptation, marking the first time the Narita family's story has reached the anime format.

Synopsis of Uchi no Ototo-domo ga Sumimasen

The plot closely follows Ito Hazui, a first-year high school student whose only wish is to lead a quiet, ordinary, and happy life with her beloved mother. However, her world takes a drastic and unexpected turn during spring break when her mother announces she has decided to remarry. Overnight, the young girl moves into her new stepfather's house, adopting the name Ito Narita. Upon arriving at her new home, Ito suffers a reality check when she discovers she now has four stepbrothers, each more peculiar than the last. Determined to make this new dynamic work, Ito tries her best to get along with everyone, but quickly clashes with Gen, the eldest brother, who is cold and distant toward her. Despite the constant friction, Ito will soon discover that beneath that facade of indifference, Gen possesses a kind and protective heart, beginning a coexistence full of entanglements, laughter, and unbreakable bonds.

Considering that the production committee decided to bet on 24 continuous episodes, do you think the studio will manage to adapt the entirety of the original manga to give the story a definitive conclusion this same season?
