Turning the sweetest girl on television into your virtual travel companion is every fan's perfect dream. This Monday, within the anime and video game community, it was officially announced that the hit romance light novelThe Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten will have its first console adaptation, giving players the chance to go on a beach vacation with the ultimate waifu.

A prank that became reality

The funniest part of this announcement is that the project was born as a simple April Fool's joke back in 2023. Three years later, the Japanese developer MAGES decided to take fan requests seriously and turn the joke into a real product. The title will be called Memorial Vacation and will function as a relaxing visual novel where the entire story will be fully voiced by the original actors from the television series.

Vacation alone with Mahiru

If you have never seen the series, the original story follows a super messy and lazy student who begins to be cared for by his neighbor Mahiru Shiina, a beautiful and perfect girl who cooks for him and cleans his apartment out of pure kindness. For this new video game, the creators decided to take the protagonists out of their boring school life in the city and send them on a special summer trip to the beautiful beaches of Okinawa, where they can relax, talk, and fall even deeper in love without anyone bothering them.

The leap to the next generation

For those who are already breaking their piggy banks, pre-orders for the game open starting today, March 23, 2026, and the official release will be next July 23 of this same year. Best of all, the title will arrive for Nintendo Switch and will also feature a super special version designed for the new and highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. These are the options players will have to purchase it:

  • Standard Edition: The normal physical version which will cost around 7,480 yen.
  • Limited Edition: A more expensive 12,980 yen bundle full of goodies and collectibles for the biggest fans.
  • Downloadable Version: The basic and cheapest digital game for 6,380 yen.
  • Digital Deluxe Edition: A premium version exclusive to the digital store for 9,680 yen.

Seeing that the game creators decided to give us an original beach story instead of simply copying the same chapters we already saw on TV, what other school romance series would you like to see turned into a console dating sim?
