About the work
Author Yu Hibari began publishing this story on the popular website Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2020, quickly capturing the public's attention with its sweet and funny premise. Its success earned it a print publication under the Kadokawa editorial label in 2021, featuring beautiful illustrations by Siso. The franchise has expanded steadily, adding a manga adaptation illustrated by Oyama, which continues to be published via the Comic Walker portal. Following its initial anime production announcement in September 2023, the series is finally ready to make the big leap to television.
Tenbin Synopsis
The plot follows the life of Hayato Kirishima, a young high school student who must transfer to a new school in the city. On his first day, he runs into Haruki Nikaido, an incredibly beautiful, refined, and popular girl who seems to know him perfectly. After a moment of absolute confusion, Hayato connects the dots and discovers a shocking truth: the perfect girl in front of him is, in fact, the same childhood friend he used to play roughly in the mud and hunt insects with seven years ago. It turns out that during their childhood, Haruki had such a masculine appearance and attitude that Hayato always believed she was a boy. Now, reunited as teenagers, Hayato must deal with the embarrassment of his past memories while developing new and unexpected feelings for the dazzling young woman Haruki has become.
Considering that Hayato spent his entire childhood treating Haruki as "one of the boys," do you think he will have a hard time breaking that habit and starting to genuinely see her as a romantic interest in his new school life?
