We are back in the lab, and the divergence meter is spinning again. Spike Chunsoft just dropped a bombshell trailer for Steins;Gate Re:Boot. This isn't just a simple facelift for the 2009 classic. We are looking at a complete reimagining of the visual novel that defined a generation of science fiction fans. We feel the excitement in the air, especially with the reveal of the Gamma Worldline. Imagine waking up in a world where your friends look at you like a stranger. Scary, right? Well, that is exactly what awaits Rintaro Okabe in this new story route.

New Timelines and Hostile Faces

We love a good mystery, and the Gamma Worldline sounds like a delicious nightmare. In this version of reality, the time machine was never finished. There are no D-Mails to save the day. Okabe finds himself alone, facing the cold stares of his fellow lab members. It is a dramatic shift from the original narrative we know by heart. The MAGES. team has worked hard to ensure this feels fresh, even for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours in Akihabara. Here is what makes this reboot special:

  • New Story Content: The addition of the Gamma Worldline expands the lore.
  • Redesigned Visuals: Character designer huke has updated the outfits and accessories.
  • E-Mote Technology: Characters now have fluid, detailed expressions thanks to M2's animation system.
  • Updated Environments: The Akihabara of 2010 looks better than ever with expanded locations.

Does anyone else miss the old 2010 flip phones? Because we certainly do! The humor of seeing Okabe struggle with modern (well, 2010 modern) tech never gets old.

Mark Your Calendars: Release Schedule

We know you want dates, and we have them. The release strategy is a bit fragmented, so pay attention. If you are a PC or Xbox enthusiast, you get to jump in first. If you prefer handheld or Sony consoles, you will have to wait just a little bit longer. It is like waiting for a microwave to finish heating your Gel-Bana—patience is key!

  • August 20: Digital launch on Xbox Series X|S and Steam (North America and Europe).
  • October 29: Launch on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.

For the collectors among us, there is a Steelbook edition. It features stunning new art by huke and a first-print-run sticker. It’s the perfect trophy for any self-proclaimed Mad Scientist. We are already clearing space on our shelves for it.

The Legacy of the Science Adventure Series

We shouldn't forget that Steins;Gate is part of a much larger universe. Since its debut in 2009, it has spawned anime series, movies like Steins;Gate – The Movie – Load Region of Déjà Vu, and sequels like Steins;Gate 0. This reboot is the ultimate way to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the franchise. It’s been a long wait since the original announcement in 2024, but the 2026 release year is finally within reach. The Future Gadget Laboratory is officially reopening its doors.

Are you ready to change the past once more, or are you afraid of the Attractor Field? Tell us what you think about the new character designs!
