Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 will arrive in January 2027
The VR anime confirms its return for 2027 and announces its first official video game.

Mastering a game riddled with bugs requires superhuman patience, but facing off against the world's best players in a competitive fighting title demands a completely different level of reflexes and strategy. Virtual immersion is about to take a radical leap into the realm of eSports. After a long wait since its initial confirmation, the production committee behind the anime adaptation of the manga written by Katarina and illustrated by Fuji, Shangri-La Frontier, officially announced the release window for its third season. Those responsible for the project released a new promotional image and confirmed that the continuation of the story will arrive on television in January 2027.

The new animated stage will pick up the narrative exactly where the second installment concluded, temporarily shifting the action toward the fierce arenas of the Galaxia Heroes: Chaos (GGC) fighting tournament. The promotional poster reflects this change of scenery by showing Rakuro using his characteristic pumpkin helmet as a disguise for the in-person event, accompanied by the shadow of his famous virtual avatar, Sunraku. The visual composition stands out due to the haunting presence of three colossal figures with glowing eyes in the background, anticipating the level of threat represented by the imminent clash between the American team STAR RAIN and the Japanese squad Nitro Squad.
To complement the anime's return to the small screen, the franchise confirmed its definitive expansion into the interactive medium. The development company Netmarble Nexus published a promotional video announcing the creation of the series' first official video game. This long-awaited title will be named Shangri-La Frontier: The Seven Colossi (Nanatsu no Saikyo-shu) and has its global launch scheduled for the year 2026.

About the work
Katarina began publishing the original drafts of this adventure through the web portal for independent novelists Shosetsuka ni Naro in May 2017. Its resounding digital success caught the attention of the publisher Kodansha, leading to the acclaimed print adaptation by the artist Fuji. This version began its serialization in the pages of the iconic Weekly Shonen Magazine in July 2020. Currently, the manga has achieved a historic milestone by dominating four different categories in reader polls and has surpassed the impressive mark of 16 million copies in circulation worldwide.
With the arrival of an official video game and the start of the exciting GGC tournament arc, which unique monster from this franchise would you like to face first using your own skills?
