Science SARU's New Ghost in the Shell Anime Reveals Second Teaser
The long-awaited return of the cyberpunk franchise reveals its second teaser and production team.

Exploring the frontier where human consciousness merges with mechanical perfection is a task that requires a vanguard and disruptive artistic vision. The most influential cyberpunk universe in history is ready for an unprecedented visual reinvention. This Friday, the production committee behind the new television anime based on Masamune Shirow's legendary manga, Ghost in the Shell, released its second official trailer and a new promotional image. The project, developed by the acclaimed studio Science SARU, confirmed its premiere for next July within the "Ka-Anival!!" programming block on Kansai TV and Fuji TV.

The revelation of this new visual material introduced the creative team that will lead this ambitious reinterpretation. The artist known as Mokochan will make their debut as series director, bringing a fresh aesthetic to the world of Section 9. Series composition and scripts are the responsibility of Toh Enjoe, while Shuhei Handa takes on the dual role of character designer and chief animation director. To immerse viewers in an immersive futuristic atmosphere, the soundtrack will be composed by Taisei Iwasaki in collaboration with Ryo Konishi and Yuki Kanesaka.
The new trailer showcases in detail the fluid animation style characteristic of Science SARU, featuring the protagonists in high-tech tactical combat sequences. Meanwhile, the promotional image highlights the main team in a composition that emphasizes the duality between their human traits and cybernetic components, capturing the philosophical essence that has defined the franchise for decades.
About the work
Master Masamune Shirow, the original creator of the work, shared a special message regarding this release, noting that this production represents the fourth major anime adaptation of his work (or the tenth if all films and spin-off series are considered). The author expressed his enthusiasm to see how this new generation of creatives approaches his concept of the "shell" and the "ghost," hoping the result will be a rewarding visual experience for veteran fans and new viewers alike. After several years without a new television series, this project marks the Major's triumphant return to weekly Japanese programming.
Ghost in the Shell Synopsis
The narrative transports us to a dystopian future where technology has advanced to the point where most human beings possess cybernetic implants or entirely artificial bodies, connecting their brains directly to the global network. In this scenario of constant digital vulnerability, Public Security Section 9 operates as an elite police unit tasked with fighting cyberterrorism, memory hacking, and high-tech crimes. The team is led by the relentless Major Motoko Kusanagi, a woman with a full cybernetic body whose tactical prowess is matched only by her internal search for identity. Alongside her loyal comrades, the Major must unravel government conspiracies and face ghostly hackers who threaten to blur the final line between man and machine.
Considering the unique and experimental visual style that Science SARU typically imprints on its works, do you think this new artistic direction will manage to capture the dense and philosophical atmosphere of Masamune Shirow's original work in a way we haven't seen before?
