Surviving in the harsh entertainment industry requires knowing exactly how to leave the audience begging for an encore. To conclude its current narrative arc on a high note, the production committee behind the anime adaptation of the hit manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, Oshi no Ko, announced this Thursday that the third season will conclude with a special one-hour episode. The thirty-fifth overall chapter of the franchise will arrive on Japanese television on March 25.

On a technical level, the third season restructured part of its main animation team. Kenji Sawada was established as the sole main animator listed for these episodes, supported by a solid and extensive lineup of chief animation directors that included figures such as Kanna Hirayama and Ayaka Muroga.

About the work

Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari began publishing this raw vision of the show business world in the pages of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020. The story concluded its serialization definitively in November 2024, publishing its sixteenth and final compiled volume in December of that same year. The anime made an explosive debut with a historic 90-minute episode in April 2023, followed by an acclaimed second season in July 2024 centered on the Tokyo Blade stage play. This third installment began its regular broadcast on January 14.

Which key moment from the manga are you hoping to see adapted with the most visual detail during this one-hour special?
