One Piece Heroines special anime reveals its first teaser and release date

The vast world of piracy would not be complete without the cunning, strength, and charisma of the women who sail its dangerous seas. Giving them the absolute spotlight they deserve is a debt that the world's largest franchise is about to settle. This Friday, during a special panel at the massive AnimeJapan 2026 event, the production committee behind the anime adaptation of the light novel series, One Piece Heroines, released a new video trailer. The footage officially confirmed that this project will debut on Japanese television on July 5 via the Fuji TV network, airing as a unique format special anime that will kick off with an episode titled "NAMI".

The direction of this refreshing animated anthology has been entrusted to Haruka Kamatani, who will seek to capture the individual essence of each of the iconic protagonists. The narrative structure and scripts are the responsibility of Momoka Toyoda, ensuring that the tone of the novels is faithfully translated to the screen. Meanwhile, the franchise's unmistakable character designs are being adapted and stylized by artist Takashi Kojima.

During the presentation at the event, the trailer also served to confirm new additions to the main voice cast who will participate in these independent stories:

• Maaya Sakamoto as Miucha.

The legendary and versatile voice actress joins the franchise to play this charming new character within the anthology.

• Takehito Koyasu as Lubun.

The acclaimed actor, recognized for his iconic roles as villains and eccentric figures, will bring his unmistakable tone to this special production.

About the work

This spin-off project is rooted in a series of short stories written by Jun Esaka and masterfully illustrated by Sayaka Suwa. Originally, these tales began publication in the pages of One Piece Magazine starting in 2019, quickly gaining enormous popularity among readers for exploring never-before-seen facets of the female characters. Such was its success that publisher Shueisha released the first printed compilation volume in June 2021, followed by a second volume titled One Piece novel HEROINES Colorful in March 2024. This will be the first time that Esaka's successful literary material receives a small-screen adaptation.

One Piece Heroines Synopsis

The story temporarily steps away from the search for the legendary treasure to present a vibrant collection of self-contained tales focused exclusively on the fiercest, most intelligent, and charismatic women of the pirate universe. Each chapter functions as a window into the personal life of a different heroine, placing her in exciting scenarios and unusual situations that test her character. Among the anecdotes that make up this anthology, viewers will see Nami becoming the absolute star of a fashion show that changes her perspective, Nico Robin collaborating closely with Koala and Sabo to decipher an important ancient tablet, Princess Vivi dealing with the surprise receipt of a love letter from a secret admirer, and the charismatic "Ghost Princess" Perona getting embroiled in a hilarious and fierce dispute against Zoro and Mihawk over the last bottle of wine available in the castle.
