Nippon Sangoku Anime Reveals New Cast, Staff, Opening Theme “Hidane,” and PV 2 Ahead of April Premiere
Studio Kafka’s post-apocalyptic drama confirms broadcast date, key visual, and more names joining the battlefield

We’re standing at the edge of a ruined world, checking our watch like it’s a train at Sol. Nippon Sangoku, the TV anime based on Ikka Matsuki’s manga, just dropped a fresh batch of updates: more cast, more staff, a key visual, the opening theme, and a second promotional video. Busy Tuesday, basically.

The premiere is locked in for April 7 at 12:00 a.m. on Tokyo MX and BS Nippon TV, then it rolls out to TV Aichi, Yomiuri TV, and other stations. So yes, we’re setting alarms. The responsible kind. Mostly.
New faces join Nippon Sangoku

The newly announced cast comes in like a squad entering a boss room. Here are the names to remember:
- Yoshitsune Asama: Jun Fukuyama (Ookami to Koushinryou)
- Mitsuhide Ryumon: Kazuhiro Yamaji (Shuumatsu no Walküre)
- Yasuaki Kaku: Yuuichi Nakamura (Jujutsu Kaisen)
- Fuji III: Taihi Kimura (Silent Witch)
- Wajima Sakuratora: Minami Tsuda (Yuru Yuri)
We love when a cast list reads like a greatest-hits playlist. Do you already have a favorite voice here?
Staff, song, and what the PV is teasing
Behind the scenes, the production is stacking experienced hands. Kazuaki Terasawa (Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2) directs at Studio Kafka, and Takahiko Abiru (Vinland Saga) handles character designs and serves as chief animation director.
The creative lineup (quick, but loaded)
- Series Composition: Teruko Utsumi (Ryman’s Club)
- Art Director: Seiki Tamura (Osomatsu-san)
- Color Design: Yuuko Kobari (Skip to Loafer)
- Director of Photography: Hayato Kifune (Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro)
- 2D / Special Effects: Kana Katou
- Calligraphy: Kotoha Kiriyama (Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song chief production)
- Editing: Daisuke Imai (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto)
- 3D Director: Kouhei Motokawa (Summer Pockets)
- Sound Director: Shouji Hata (Sousou no Frieren)
- Sound Effects: Noriko Izumo (Spy x Family)
- Sound Production: Sound Team Don Juan
- Music: Kevin Penkin (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)
And yes, we’ve got music news: singer-songwriter Tatsuya Kitani (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season) performs the opening theme “Hidane”, already previewed in the new PV. If the visuals are the spark, this song looks like the match.
For manga context: Ikka Matsuki launched the post-apocalyptic drama on MangaONE in November 2021, and Shogakukan published volume 6 in November 2024.
Now it’s your turn: are we watching at midnight on April 7, or pretending we’ll “catch up later” like liars? Tell us which detail hyped you most—the cast, Kevin Penkin’s score, or that “Hidane” preview.
