The final episode just dropped, and boom! It's official. Your favorite assassin-turned-hopeless-romantic isn't done yet. The Marriage Toxin anime is coming back for a second season in 2027. They hit us with the announcement video right at the end, so you know the hype is real.

Think your love life is complicated? Try being Hikaru Gero. This guy is the heir to the legendary Gero Family of Poison Masters. He's spent his whole life in the shadows, far away from anything resembling a normal date. But when the family boss says his sister has to have a kid to keep the bloodline going—by any means necessary—Hikaru snaps into action. His solution? Find a wife, and fast.

Enter Mei Kinosaki, a genius marriage swindler. Hikaru's first proposal to her wasn't exactly flowers and chocolate. It was more like a desperate plea for help. And somehow, it worked. Now this ultimate duo—an elite assassin and a con artist—are on the world's toughest mission: finding true love. Or at least, a convincing fake.

Behind the Scenes Powerhouse

This isn't some low-budget operation. The first season was crafted by a serious team. Directed by Motonobu Hori of Carole & Tuesday fame, with the heavy hitters at BONES overseeing production. The script was handled by Kimiko Ueno (Astro Note), and the music? Composed by Taisei Iwasaki (BELLE) and Yuma Yamaguchi (Metallic Rouge).

The character designs and chief animation direction came from Kōhei Tokuoka, who you might know from The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. And the soundtrack? Absolute fire. Yurina Hirate belts out the opening "Kill or Kiss," while AKASAKI brings it home with the ending theme "Shake Na Baby."

Where to Catch Up

If you missed the first mission, no worries. The anime premiered back in April and aired as part of Fuji TV's "Ka-Anival!!" block. You can stream the whole thing right now on Crunchyroll. The manga, which started in April 2022 on Shonen Jump+, is already on its 17th volume. You can read it in English on MANGA Plus or check out the print version from Viz Media.

So mark your calendars for 2027. The poison is still in the system, and the hunt for the perfect bride is back on. Get ready for more chaos, more cons, and hopefully, a little more romance. Or at least, a hilarious attempt at it.
