The magic of classic role-playing games and top-tier animation are about to collide in a spectacular way within the entertainment industry. To celebrate three decades of epic adventures, the legendary Tales of video game franchise has joined forces with titans ufotable and Production I.G in an unprecedented commemorative project.

Both animation studios confirmed this Friday that they will work together to produce a total of 188 commemorative illustrations. The choice of these animation houses is no coincidence, as both have previously worked on opening sequences for various titles in the saga developed by Bandai Namco. Ufotable is revered for its vibrant animations and detailed lighting effects, while Production I.G holds undeniable prestige in character design. Together, they promise to capture the heroic essence of every entry.

The artworks will be revealed gradually throughout this year and will be part of various in-person events, online promotional campaigns, and exclusive merchandising specially designed for this pearl anniversary celebration.

The indelible legacy of JRPGs and the Tales of saga

Since its dazzling debut in 1995, the series has forged a path full of success within the JRPG market. Unlike other stories in the genre, this universe always stands out for its focus on deep bonds of camaraderie, dynamic real-time action combat systems, and plots that often test the morality of its protagonists against fate. This thirty-year journey has left an indelible mark on millions of players who have laughed, cried, and fought alongside its characters.

Which protagonist or villain from the entire saga are you most excited to see drawn in the current style of these studios?
