The machinery of the anime industry requires sudden adjustments to its broadcast schedules from time to time. The production behind the fourth season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) confirmed this Tuesday the cancellation of its episode scheduled for May 1st on the Japanese network NTV and its affiliated channels, citing unspecified programming reasons.

To compensate for this temporary absence, the BS11 channel will air a one-hour special program on May 2nd. This television block will feature the lead voice actress and host Haruka Mori, who will analyze recent story events and preview key details about the upcoming episodes of this acclaimed isekai.

The extensive five-cour season and its production team

The production committee had planned this fourth installment as the most ambitious in the franchise's history, confirming a total of five cours (quarterly broadcast blocks). The first two are currently airing consecutively since April 3rd, demonstrating enormous confidence in the brand's profitability.

Main cast and music

The creative team behind this installment keeps its lineup intact to ensure the series' narrative and visual consistency:

  • Miho Okasaki as Rimuru Tempest. The unmistakable voice behind the charismatic slime, who reprises her leading role in this massive long-term project.
  • Studio 8-Bit in charge of Animation Production. The studio that has forged the series' visual identity since its debut in 2018 remains at the helm of the new episodes.
  • Eir Aoi in charge of the Opening. The experienced performer contributes her vocal talent with the theme "Esoragoto," while the band CiON handles the ending titled "Katsubou."

The construction of the Jura Tempest nation

Born as a successful light novel written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, the franchise's plot revolves around Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old corporate worker who is stabbed in the street. Upon waking up, he discovers he has reincarnated in a fantasy world as a simple blind and deaf slime. However, by acquiring unique skills of predation and understanding, he renames himself Rimuru Tempest and begins to forge alliances with different monster races, building a powerful independent nation that inevitably clashes with the political and military interests of human kingdoms and other Demon Lords.

Considering the immense number of episodes planned for this fourth season, which narrative arc from the manga would you like to see adapted with the greatest level of detail by Studio 8-Bit?
