School anime Haibara's Teenage New Game+ releases trailer and reveals opening theme
A university student travels seven years back in time to fix his disastrous high school life

We all hold some embarrassing high school memory that makes us break into a cold sweat at night. The idea of traveling back in time to fix those social blunders is every introvert's ultimate dream. This Thursday, a new trailer was released for the anime adaptation of the school romance and time-travel light novel written by Kazuki Amamiya, Haibara's Teenage New Game+ (Haibara-kun no Tsuyokute Seishun New Game). The production committee released this update along with an unreleased promotional poster, setting the broadcast premiere for April 2nd.


The video material brought with it a small audio preview. The sequences featured a fragment of the song "Fly Again!!", a musical track performed by singer Ami Maeshima that will serve as the series' opening theme. On the other hand, the closing theme or ending will be titled "Dramatic Tohiko" and will be performed by Aimi.
Details of Haibara's Teenage New Game+
The entire visual production is being developed at Studio Comet. Misuzu Hoshino has been placed in charge of general direction. The scripts are handled by the experienced Keiichiro Ochi, a creative well-known for structuring popular romantic comedies. Hiromi Ono is in charge of adapting the character designs, while the musical scores are being composed by Sonosuke Takao.
Those in charge also made public the names of the actors who will make up the main voice cast to play the circle of students:
- Yuto Uemura as Natsuki Haibara.
Globally recognized for playing Thorfinn in Vinland Saga and Tamaki Amajiki in My Hero Academia.
- Kanon Takao as Hikari Hoshimiya.
Acclaimed within the industry for voicing Iris in Konosuba.
- Kanna Nakamura as Miori Motomiya.
Famous for her role as Urushi Yaotome in the comedy When Will Ayumu Make His Move.
- Aya Yamane as Uta Sakura.
Known for playing Riho Tsukishima in the harem series The Cafe Terrace and Its Goddesses.
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Yuino Nanase.
Greatly beloved by the otaku community thanks to her role as Nijika Ijichi in Bocchi the Rock!.
- Ryota Suzuki as Tatsuya Nagiura.
The iconic actor behind the calculating Yu Ishigami in Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
- Tomohiro Ono as Reita Shiratori.
A recently debuted talent looking to make his way in voice acting with this supporting character.
About the work
Kazuki Amamiya originally conceived this story in light novel format. The franchise managed to catch the attention of Japanese readers by combining classic high school romance tropes with the fantasy element of rewriting the past. Making the leap to television represents the natural move to expand its fan base and position itself within the competitive spring premiere season.
Synopsis of Haibara's Teenage New Game+
The plot closely follows Natsuki Haibara. He is a college student with social anxiety who lives regretting his depressing time in high school. His days are spent fantasizing about the youth full of friends he never had. Without any explanation, one day he wakes up seven years in the past, exactly one month before entering his first year of high school. Using everything he learned the hard way in the future, Natsuki decides to alter his destiny to climb the social ranks, get a girlfriend, and erase his three years of absolute isolation.
