Mixing professional diving with absurd amounts of college drinking is the perfect formula for disaster and pure comedy. Moving the setting of these excesses to a foreign country only guarantees that the chaos and misunderstandings will cross borders. This Wednesday, new updates were revealed for the third season of the anime adaptation of the comedy manga written by Kenji Inoue and illustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka, Grand Blue Dreaming (Grand Blue). The project's official account released a brand new promotional image and confirmed that the new episodes will land on Japanese television during the upcoming month of July.

This new installment will mark a narrative milestone for the animated franchise, as it will take the story directly to Palau. This will be the first time the group of protagonists leaves Japan to wreak havoc in international waters. Although the statement did not detail the technical staff, it is worth noting that studio Zero-G has been in charge of the production of the previous two seasons without interruption.

The update focused on revealing the talented actresses joining the main voice cast to bring to life the characters the rowdy club will meet on their trip abroad:

  • Sayaka Ohara as Sayaka Kotegawa.

A legendary industry voice actress world-famous for playing Erza Scarlet in Fairy Tail and Irisviel von Einzbern in the Fate franchise.

  • Asami Seto as Chief.

Acclaimed voice actress recognized in the otaku community for portraying Nobara Kugisaki in Jujutsu Kaisen and Raphtalia in The Rising of the Shield Hero.

  • Aya Suzaki as Maki.

Established talent in comedy after giving life to the unmistakable Mako Mankanshoku in Kill la Kill.

About the work

Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka began serializing this hilarious and cheeky story in the pages of Kodansha's good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014. The success of its adult humor boosted sales to surpass the massive mark of 10 million printed copies in circulation. The work will release its twenty-sixth compiled volume on April 7th. The anime adaptation successfully debuted in the summer of 2018 under Amazon Prime Video distribution, and its highly anticipated second installment dominated the schedule in the summer of 2025 via Crunchyroll.

Grand Blue Dreaming Synopsis

The story follows the college life of Iori Kitahara, a young man who moves to the Izu Peninsula to begin his studies in mechanical engineering. He rents a room above his uncle's scuba diving shop, named "Grand Blue," hoping to live a normal school life full of romance and peace. However, his dream is shattered when he is forced by his buff and rowdy upperclassmen to join the local diving club, Peek-a-Boo. Iori soon discovers that this group spends much more time drinking uncontrollably, throwing wild parties, and losing their clothes than exploring the ocean. Despite the constant alcoholic chaos, the protagonist will end up forging unbreakable friendships and discovering the true beauty of the underwater world.

What kind of international misunderstandings do you think this noisy group of college students will cause during their vacation in Palau?
