Firefly Wedding Anime Reveals First Trailer and Premiere Date
The highly anticipated dark romance anime confirmed its television premiere for this October.

Falling in love with the man hired to take your life sounds like complete madness, but it is the perfect premise for your new favorite series. This Tuesday, within the anime community, the official website for the highly anticipated adaptation of Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri) set social media ablaze by releasing its first promotional video, revealing the main seiyuus and confirming its premiere for October of this year.

A marriage of life or death
For those unfamiliar with the original manga by author Oreko Tachibana, the story introduces us to Satoko Kirigaya (played by voice actress Lynn), a beautiful young noblewoman suffering from an incurable disease. When a mysterious assassin named Shinpei Goto (voiced by Koki Uchiyama) is sent to eliminate her, she makes a desperate bargain to survive: she proposes marriage. The lethal killer accepts the offer, but takes the promise of "until death do us part" in a rather literal, obsessive, and bloody way.

The team behind the magic
To ensure this dark and twisted romance looks spectacular on screen, the prestigious animation studio david production took the reins of the project. Direction will be handled by Takahiro Kamei, while the beautiful character designs will be crafted by the talented Yukiko Aikei. Furthermore, the scripts will be overseen by Yuko Kakihara, guaranteeing that the drama and tension remain exactly as they are on the pages of the Japanese comic.
What we know about the premiere
Otakus who love unconventional love stories won't have to wait long to see this wedding on screen. The production committee confirmed these key details for its big television debut:
- Fall Season: The first episode will air on Japanese television during the month of October 2026.
- Massive Success: The original work is so popular that it just released its 11th volume last February, proving the franchise is a gold mine.
- Intense Soundtrack: The music accompanying the protagonists' lethal romantic dates will be composed by the group NOGRID.
Seeing that the poor protagonist is willing to marry and live with a ruthless killer just to survive a few more months, do you like these kinds of dangerous and toxic romances, or do you prefer quieter, normal school love stories?
