Being left with half a story for over a year is torture for any Japanese comic reader. This Saturday, within the manga fan community, illustrator Toyotaro broke a very long silence by updating his official online profile to confirm that the return of Dragon Ball Super is finally a reality.

A direct message in English and Japanese

The artist didn't beat around the bush. Out of nowhere, he changed his account biography to write a crystal-clear phrase in both Japanese and English: "Everything is for the return of the series." Basically, he is telling all otakus that he is currently locked in, working around the clock to publish new chapters and continue Goku's adventures.

The weight of continuing the legend

To understand why this is so exciting, we must remember that this famous shonen has been on hiatus since early 2025. Following the sad passing of the original creator Akira Toriyama in 2024, Toyotaro tried to continue drawing the story on his own for a while, but eventually, the monthly magazine had to halt publication. For over a year, fans hadn't had a single clue as to when they would see their favorite characters fighting to save the universe again.

What awaits Goku

Although the illustrator didn't give an exact calendar date, such a direct message means that good things are already on the way. This is what this update means for the future of the franchise:

  • End of the drought: No more settling for reading old chapters; the story will pick up the mysteries that were left pending before the hiatus.
  • Double prize for fans: In addition to the comic, the anime is also preparing to release new episodes later this year.
  • The legacy intact: The creator promises that the story will maintain the same fights, crazy transformations, and humor that we have always loved.

Seeing that the artist finally feels ready to carry the weight of the franchise on his own, what kind of villain or new transformation would you like to see in the next chapters of the story?
