The Second Season of Aoashi Premieres Trailer and Confirms Release Date

The soccer anime changes studios to TMS Entertainment and begins the A team arc.

Making the jump to the A team is the most brutal obstacle for any aspiring professional soccer player. The real competitive pressure begins right at that formative point. This Thursday, a new trailer was released for the second season of the spokon anime written by Yugo Kobayashi, Aoashi. The official announcement came accompanied by an unprecedented promotional image and confirmed that the matches will return to Japanese television next October 4 through the NHK Educational channel. The video sequences show Ashito Aoi facing this tough environment alongside the club's veteran players.

Aoashi Details

The move to the next league brought important modifications to the technical lineup. TMS Entertainment will take full control of the animation, officially replacing the Production I.G studio. The director's chair now belongs to Kazuki Yokoyama. In the character design department, Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka join the production team to work alongside the veteran Manabu Nakatake. The rest of the main staff maintains their titular positions. Masahiro Yokotani continues to supervise the general scripts, Shoji Hata directs the sound, and Masaru Yokoyama composes the music. The committee also confirmed the return of the original seiyuu cast to reprise their respective characters.

About the Work

Yugo Kobayashi began serializing the manga in the pages of Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in January 2015. The project had the initial collaboration of Naohiko Ueno for all the sports research. The title sold more than 15 million physical copies and won the general award in the 65th edition of the Shogakukan Manga Awards. Its printed story concluded in August 2025, closing the cycle with the publication of its 40th compiled volume.

Aoashi Synopsis

The plot follows Ashito Aoi, a high school student with raw talent for soccer but with a quite problematic attitude. After ruining his team's chances in a school tournament, a scout named Tatsuya Fukuda notices his unique field vision. Fukuda invites him to try out in the youth categories of a professional team in Tokyo. From that moment on, the young man must learn to play collectively and polish his tactical skills to survive in the strict Japanese youth soccer system.
