The racing anime MF Ghost confirms its fourth and final season
The adrenaline-pumping racing anime confirms its fourth and final season following its recent finale

The adrenaline of racing at the limit and the unmistakable roar of engines on Japanese asphalt are about to take their final victory lap. Just moments after the broadcast of the explosive final episode of its third installment concluded on Japanese television this Friday, the production committee behind the anime adaptation of the acclaimed racing manga written and illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno, MF Ghost, officially announced the production of its fourth season. To further heighten the tension for viewers, it was categorically confirmed that this new batch of episodes will be the last of the entire animated franchise.
The monumental news was accompanied by an exciting trailer and a new promotional image that anticipate the imminent and spectacular climax of this speed tournament.

As this was an immediate confirmation following the end of the winter cycle, the project managers have kept the estimated release date and technical staff details confidential. However, it is expected to maintain the high level of 3D vehicle animation that characterized its predecessors, which debuted uninterruptedly in October 2023 and 2024, consolidating the series as a titan of the sports genre.
Throughout its recently finalized third installment, the series stood out enormously for its vibrant sound design and the impeccable performance of its vocal talent, including:
- Nanako Aizawa as Emma Green.
Voice actress in charge of playing the 19-year-old British racing prodigy who bursts into the racing circuit to challenge the protagonist.
- Yu Serizawa in charge of the Opening.
Renowned artist and seiyuu who lent her undeniable energy performing the opening theme titled "Timeless Power feat. MOTSU".
- Himika Akaneya in charge of the Ending.
Talented singer responsible for closing each episode of the third installment with the emotional theme "Yokan no Tochu Prod. Taku Takahashi (m-flo)".
About the work
The legendary master Shuichi Shigeno, world-revered as the mastermind behind the colossal drifting cultural phenomenon Initial D, began serializing this spiritual and official sequel in 2017. The literary work managed to capture the magic of car racing once again, becoming a resounding sales success. The manga concluded its exciting serialization in February 2025, and the publisher Kodansha released its final compiled volume on Japanese shelves in June of the same year, setting the perfect stage for the anime to adapt the story in its entirety.
MF Ghost Synopsis
The fast-paced plot transports us to a near future in the 2020s, an era where electric vehicles and self-driving cars have become the absolute and monotonous norm throughout Japan. However, to preserve the pure excitement of traditional motorsports, MFG has been created—a special and highly dangerous racing circuit that uses real public roads as tracks, attracting the attention of millions of viewers around the world. The story follows Kanata Livington, a young prodigy and pilot of Japanese-British descent who, after graduating at the top of his class from a prestigious racing school in England, decides to return to Japan. Behind the wheel of his internal combustion engine sports car, Kanata enters the relentless MFG tournament with a single goal: to dominate the asphalt, face the best drivers in the country, and discover the truth about his missing father's whereabouts.
Knowing that this fourth season will adapt the definitive ending of the manga, what mythical sports car or extreme drifting technique do you hope to see animated in Kanata's final race?
