The action manga Tank Chair will be adapted into an anime
A comatose assassin wakes up in his wheelchair upon sensing killing intent in this new anime.

Taking a lethal shot to protect a loved one normally marks the tragic end of a character. However, being trapped in a coma in a wheelchair is only the bloody beginning for this protagonist. This Wednesday, the anime adaptation for the action manga written and illustrated by Manabu Yashiro, Tank Chair, was officially announced. The production company Bandai Namco Filmworks confirmed the project by releasing a first promotional trailer and setting its premiere on Japanese television for the fall season.

Tank Chair Details
The overall production of this brutal rehabilitation story was left in the hands of the studio Polygon Pictures, world-renowned for its specialization in three-dimensional animation (CGI). The director's chair is shared by the technical duo consisting of Tadahiro Yoshihira and Hiroaki Ando. Both creatives also took on the enormous responsibility of structuring and writing the series' general scripts.
In the visual department, the committee designated Yuki Moriyama as the one in charge of adapting the original character designs into animation models, backed by the work of Kazuma Teshigahara in the production design of settings and weapons. The intense musical scores that will accompany the frenetic battles are handled by the acclaimed composer Masaru Yokoyama.
About the Work
Manabu Yashiro began serializing this relentless narrative through the digital service Magazine Pocket from the publisher Kodansha in November 2022. The unusual premise and its combat dynamics caught the public's attention, leading to its transfer to the printed pages of Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in November 2024. The franchise's constant commercial success allowed it to release its ninth compiled volume in Japanese stores during the past month of September 2025.
Tank Chair Synopsis
The plot closely follows Shizuka, a young woman who constantly accepts the deadliest and most dangerous assassination contracts in the criminal underworld. The twist lies in the fact that she is not the one pulling the trigger. Her older brother, Nagi, was the city's most feared hitman until he took a bullet to the head to protect her. Now, he survives in a permanent comatose state confined to a modified wheelchair. Shizuka discovered a dark secret: the only way to awaken her brother's consciousness for brief moments is by exposing him to real and direct killing intent. Thus begins a violent therapeutic journey where both siblings face the worst criminals seeking Nagi's miraculous recovery.
Do you think CGI animation is the best option to capture the impact of the hand-to-hand combat in this series?
