Netflix Sets Premiere Date for The Ribbon Hero: A Classic Reborn
Osamu Tezuka's legendary Sapphire returns to the screen with a modern twist on Netflix this summer

We are witnessing a legend wake up from a long nap. The classic 1950s fantasy is finally getting a fresh coat of paint. The Ribbon Hero, an original anime movie, just dropped its first trailer. Netflix will be the exclusive home for this worldwide premiere. Mark your calendars for August 8. It is time to see how modern technology handles a pioneer of the genre.

The Team Behind the Magic

We found out who is steering this ship. The production looks solid and full of talent. Yuuki Igarashi, known for his work on Star Wars: Visions, takes the director's chair at studio Outline. He is not alone in this adventure. We have a list of the creative minds joining him:
- Character Design: Issei Arakaki adapts the modern vision of Kei Mochizuki.
- Nergal Design: The talented okama brings unique shapes to the screen.
- Music: Satoru Kousaki and Ryuuichi Takada from MONACA are crafting the score.
- Background Art: Masanobu Nomura ensures the world looks breathtaking.
It sounds like a dream team, right? We even have Saya, the vocalist from Raisan, voicing our main hero. Talk about a multi-talented choice! She will bring Sapphire to life for a whole new generation. We are curious to hear her voice in action. Who doesn't love a good casting surprise?

A Legacy Since 1953
Let's talk history for a second. We are looking at a story born in the mind of the God of Manga, Osamu Tezuka. He started Ribbon no Kishi in 1953. That is older than most of our favorite gadgets! The original manga ran until 1956 and changed shoujo history forever. It was a tale of identity, swords, and royalty.
We remember the old 1967 TV series by Mushi Production. It had 52 episodes of pure nostalgia. Now, The Ribbon Hero aims to capture that same spirit but with 2024 energy. Imagine the sparkle of the old days mixed with the sharp lines of modern CG directed by Akine Nagamine. It is like putting a vintage engine in a sports car. Fast, shiny, and very cool.
Technical Excellence
The trailer shows off some impressive visuals. We noticed the Color Design by Natsumi Watabe stands out immediately. It is vibrant and clean. The Sound Production is handled by Tohokushinsha Film Corporation, so our ears are in for a treat. We love when a movie takes its technical aspects seriously. No one likes a blurry background or flat sound, especially in a royal palace!
- Director of Photography: Hikaru Fukuda.
- Editing: Junichi Uematsu.
- Sound Director: Keiichirou Miyoshi.
Are you excited to see Sapphire back in action on Netflix? What do you think about the new character designs for this classic? We want to know your thoughts!
