The film will represent a narrative milestone for the franchise, as it will cover a completely new story arc that takes place immediately after the concluding events of the recently finished second season of the anime. Fans who have followed the protagonists' evolution on television will be able to experience the next level of global competition with cinematic animation quality.

Being a preliminary announcement more than a year away from its projected release, the production committee has kept details regarding the animation studio, the lead director, and the technical staff a complete secret. Similarly, the official voice cast (seiyuu) list returning to reprise their roles will be revealed in future updates over the coming months as the project's production stage progresses.

About the work

Tsurumaikada began serializing this acclaimed story of self-improvement in the pages of Kodansha's iconic Afternoon magazine in May 2020. Its impact on the print industry has been undeniable, winning prestigious awards such as Best General Manga at the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards and the 48th Kodansha Manga Awards. The work's continuous success led to the release of its fourteenth compiled volume on January 22, 2026. Its successful run on television was divided into two acclaimed seasons; the first burst onto the scene in January 2025, and the second began airing in late January of this same year, 2026.

Medalist Synopsis

The plot follows the arduous, passionate, and emotional journey of two seemingly broken souls who share the same unwavering determination to succeed on the ice. On one hand, we meet Tsukasa, a young adult whose own ambitions and dreams of becoming an elite professional skater were brutally crushed in the past due to a lack of resources and opportunities. On the other is Inori, a lonely and misunderstood young girl whom no one takes seriously and who has had to discover the basics of skating on her own amidst rejection. When their paths converge, Tsukasa recognizes the girl's raw talent and decides to become her personal coach. Together they will forge an unbreakable bond, facing harsh disappointments, exhaustive training, and the most formidable rivals, staking their lives to reach the gold medal on the competitive and dazzling world stage.
