Kaiju Girl Caramelise Anime Shares First Teaser and Release Date
The fun and unusual work that blends school romance with giant monsters confirms its premiere for July 2026.

Teenage love can be emotionally overwhelming, but when those butterflies in your stomach literally transform you into a giant monster capable of destroying a city, romance takes on a colossal scale. The shoujo genre is about to receive one of its most explosive deconstructions. This Friday, the official website for the anime adaptation of the unique manga written and illustrated by Spica Aoki, Kaiju Girl Caramelise (Otome Kaiju Carameliser), released its first video trailer. The entertaining footage officially confirmed that the series will begin airing on Japanese television during the upcoming July 2026 season.

The monumental task of balancing the delicacy of school romance with massive building destruction falls into the talented hands of LIDEN FILMS studio, with general production by GOOD SMILE FILM. The committee has appointed director Teruyuki Omine to lead the project. The structuring of this unusual narrative and series scripts are handled by Yuniko Ayana, while the character designs, which contrast the beauty of shoujo style with the grotesque, are adapted by artist Mitomi Nakayama. The news came accompanied by a charming promotional image that captures the protagonist's double life.
The announcement revealed an extensive main voice cast that will bring to life the students and key figures in this chaotic triangle between love, reason, and destruction:
- Hikari Senga as Kuroe Akaishi.
Actress in charge of portraying the shy protagonist who undergoes strange and gigantic mutations when her heart races.
- Daishi Kajita as Arata Minami.
The voice of the most popular boy in class, whose charm and interactions are the main trigger for Kuroe's transformations.
- Akira Sekine as Manatsu Tomosato and Haruka Shiraishi as Raimu Kono.
Talented seiyuus who will bring to life the social circle surrounding the protagonists, adding comedy to school life.
- Kotono Mitsuishi as Rinko Akaishi and Katsuyuki Konishi as Kotaro Hibino.
Key adult figures essential to understanding the mysterious genetic origin of the condition afflicting the young student.
- Eriko Matsui as Jumbo King.
An enigmatic character who promises to add even more rivalry and chaos to Kuroe's already complicated double life.
About the Work
Manga artist Spica Aoki surprised the industry by beginning the serialization of this ingenious story in the pages of Monthly Comic Alive magazine by Kadokawa publishing house in 2018. Its premise, which breaks traditional romance molds by injecting classic Japanese kaiju (giant monster) film elements, has earned it a loyal fan base, comfortably exceeding 230,000 copies in circulation. With the publication of its ninth collected volume last December, the story has the perfect material for its television debut to be a resounding success.
Synopsis of Kaiju Girl Caramelise
The plot follows the stressful life of Kuroe Akaishi, a high school student who suffers from a "mysterious illness" that deforms her body whenever she experiences intense emotions. Terrified of being discovered and labeled a freak, Kuroe has self-imposed an almost total life of social isolation. However, her fragile comfort zone shatters when, by twist of fate, she begins interacting with Arata Minami, the kindest and most popular boy in her class. Upon realizing she has hopelessly fallen in love with him, the latent power inside Kuroe awakens uncontrollably: the heart palpitations of her first love transform her into a gigantic and unstoppable Godzilla-style monster. Now, torn between maintaining common sense and a wild crush, Kuroe must find a way to confess her feelings without accidentally stomping the entire city.
Considering that Arata seems to be quite perceptive, do you think the popular boy will manage to deduce that the colossal monster appearing every time things get romantic is actually his shy classmate?
