Battle Spirits [Re] Zekkai no Kū Reveals New Trailer, Cast, and October 6 Anime Premiere
JAM Project leads the opening as Bandai’s long-running franchise returns to TV with a fresh story and new faces.

The Battle Spirits franchise is stepping back into television with Battle Spirits [Re] Zekkai no Kū, and this time it arrives with the kind of momentum that feels like a card drawn at exactly the right moment. The new anime is set to premiere on October 6 at 11:00 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and other channels, while a newly released trailer opens the door to its world and lets you hear the opening song for the first time.
That opening theme will be “Here we are!” by JAM Project, a name that often carries the weight of anime excitement almost by instinct. The ending theme, meanwhile, will be “Pulse” by Himegoto, giving the series a musical frame that already suggests both energy and contrast.
A new story enters the arena

At the center of the anime is Kū Bashin, voiced by Taichi Kusano, a cheerful and sincere fan of Battle Spirits who wants to grow stronger. Beside him stands Zetsu Ajara, voiced by Daiki Hamano, a cool and distant rōnin feared as an Eternal Battler master assassin. It is the kind of pairing that feels familiar in anime, but still effective, like fire meeting steel.
I have always found these contrasts to be the heartbeat of long-running franchises: one character carries light, the other shadow, and between them the story learns how to breathe. Here, that same balance seems ready to guide the series from its first episode.
The staff behind the anime
Masashi Kudo is directing the anime at Bandai Namco Pictures, and he is also credited with the original character designs. Series scripts are being handled by Toshizo Nemoto. The production is also planned by Bandai Namco Pictures, which keeps the project closely tied to the broader identity of the franchise.
It is a team with meaningful experience behind it, and in a franchise that has lasted for years, that matters. When a property has many lives, each new installment needs a steady hand, not noise.
A franchise with deep roots
Bandai launched the original Battle Spirits trading card game in 2008. Its cards feature dragons, demons, birds, insects, and other spirits used in battle, and the game reached the United States in 2009. In simple terms, this is a brand that has been active for nearly two decades, which is no small feat in anime and gaming.
The anime side began with the 50-episodeBattle Spirits: Shōnen Toppa Bashin in September 2008. After that, new television anime arrived almost every year until Battle Spirits Double Drive in the 2016-2017 period. Later entries continued that path, including Battle Spirits: Saga Brave in 2019, Battle Spirits: Kakumei no Galett in 2020, and Battle Spirits: Mirage in 2021.
More than anime
The series has also moved beyond television. Battle Spirits: Connected Battlers, the latest game in the franchise, launched for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in April 2022. That kind of expansion is often the clearest sign that a franchise still has a pulse, and Battle Spirits clearly does.
Now, with Battle Spirits [Re] Zekkai no Kū, the franchise opens another chapter. For longtime fans, it may feel like meeting an old rival across the table again. For newcomers, it could be the perfect entry point, clean, energetic, and ready to shuffle the deck once more.
