Aria the Scarlet Ammo Never Rests: Check Out the First Details of Its New Short Anime
The school action and comedy franchise will celebrate 15 years with a new animated short.

Authorized school shootouts and action comedy are back on the screen. The publisher Kadokawa confirmed this Wednesday that the Aria the Scarlet Ammo franchise (known in Japan as Hidan no Aria) will receive a new anime in short-form format to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the premiere of its first television series in 2011.
Although the company has decided to keep the names of the technical staff, the studio in charge, and the voice actors strictly confidential for future announcements, the news demonstrates the constant profitability of this pillar within the anime industry. The choice to produce short-duration episodes works as an agile commemorative project, ideal for celebrating the milestone without compromising the production timelines of a full season.

The weight of an inexhaustible franchise
The relevance of this brand is backed by the continuity of its source material. The light novels created by Chugaku Akamatsu published their 45th volume in December of last year, ensuring a constant flow of new stories. At the same time, the manga adaptation illustrated by Yoshino Koyoka, serialized in Monthly Comic Alive magazine, released its 26th compiled volume in February 2025. Altogether, the work has surpassed the impressive figure of nine million copies sold worldwide.
Added to this is the franchise's history with its spin-off manga, notably Aria the Scarlet Ammo Double A (created by Shogako Tachibana), which was successful enough to earn its own 12-episode animated adaptation in October 2015, expanding the universe of the main series.
Bullets, high schools, and armed detectives
The plot that gave birth to this phenomenon focuses on Kinji Toyama, a young student seeking to lead a normal life within an academy specialized in training "Butei" (mercenary armed detectives). His school routine turns into a chaos of chases and armed battles when he crosses paths with Aria H. Kanzaki, an elite, lethal, and temperamental student who drags him directly into the dangerous world of organized crime, international rivals, and high-risk missions.
