In a future where corporate trade federations wage endless war for control of the solar system, a young man named Akira sees a desperate chance for escape. Following the advice of his friend Pupkin, he enlists in a federation's orbital drop infantry.

These soldiers are notoriously expendable, suffering catastrophic casualty rates and grimly nicknamed "Yakitori"—like skewered chicken grilled over a fire. The anime follows Akira's brutal journey as he is thrust into this merciless conflict, exploring themes of sacrifice, the value of human life within vast systems, and the desperate pursuit of freedom.
