Anapoko is a pioneering experimental anime born from artistic necessity and innovation. It was created as a graduation project by filmmaker Nakajima using a unique technique he devised called "Kaki-mation", which involves drawing and etching images directly onto 35mm film stock.
This hands-on, physical process gives the anime its raw, textured, and deeply personal visual style, standing as a testament to independent creative expression. The work reflects the vibrant, formative energy of the Japanese animation scene of its time, exploring abstract themes of creation, motion, and the very essence of the animated medium itself.
