The fire waifu returns! Shakugan no Shana announces new game
For the 20th anniversary of its anime, Shakugan no Shana will launch a new free-to-play game.

If there is one franchise that screams pure nostalgia for old-school otakus, it is definitely Shakugan no Shana. Just when we thought the legendary red-haired tsundere would remain only in our memories of the past, the company CTW Inc. has just given us a huge surprise. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the premiere of its mythical anime adaptation, they announced the launch of a new browser-based video game titled Shakugan no Shana Blaze Edge, or simply Shana Blaze for short.

The legendary swordswoman returns to combat
The title will be a free-to-play game with the classic microtransactions we know so well, and best of all, pre-registration is now fully open. The story will bring back the iconic hunter Shana and the clueless Yuji Sakai, taking us once again to that universe where the Crimson Realm invaders seek to devour the Power of Existence. For those who don't remember, this power is basically the essence of human life, and only our small but lethal fire-eyed waifu can stop them by dealing blows with her giant sword.
A franchise that refuses to be forgotten
Seeing this resurgence is incredible considering the work's very long history. The light novels written by Yashichiro Takahashi and illustrated by Noizi Ito started back in 2002 and closed their main story in 2011, inspiring three successful television seasons that defined a whole generation. However, the franchise proved it still has plenty of fuel to burn when it released a new volume of short stories in November 2023, breaking a silence of more than a decade without literary content.
Knowing that registration is now available, are you ready to dust off your love for this classic work and give the new game a chance, or do you prefer to stick only with the memories of the original anime?
