Palworld Leaps into the World of Card Games: All About the Official TCG
The survival phenomenon announces its expansion into the physical format with a simultaneous worldwide launch and an ambitious competitive plan.

It seems the Pals aren't content with just dominating our screens. The Palworld universe is making an unexpected leap into the physical world with the announcement of its own official collectible card game. The news arrived during the "Cardfight!! Vanguard 15th Anniversary: Bushiroad New Year Announcements 2026" event, accompanied by a teaser that made it clear this is a serious endeavor.
The Strategy Leaves the Screen
In this new two-player TCG, the essence of Palworld is brought to the table. Players will have to build and deploy their teams of Pals, collect resources, and create structures to control the battlefield. Each Pal will retain its unique characteristics, promising a wide variety of strategies and customizable decks. It's not just about brute force; management and tactics will be key to victory.
A Packed Action Calendar
The official launch is set for July 30th, with a simultaneous worldwide release strategy. By that date, two trial decks and a booster pack will be available in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. But the party will start earlier.
Pre-release demo sessions will kick off in spring, both at local game stores and at conventions in Japan and international markets. The starting gun will be at Bushiroad Expo 2026 in Chicago. From March, all Bushiroad Expo venues will have their demo, and in May it will be the turn of the Card Game Festival 2026 in Tokyo.
A Global Competitive Ecosystem
Bushiroad doesn't just want to sell cards; it wants to build a community. They have already confirmed an organized play program at local stores and regional tournaments worldwide. The path to glory will begin in autumn with regional qualifying tournaments. The best players from each region will compete for the title of World Champion at the Card Game Festival 2027.
The Phenomenon That Keeps Growing
This announcement comes at a time of meteoric expansion for Palworld. Recall that the game debuted in Steam Early Access in January 2024 and reached 25 million users in its first month. This very year will see its full launch, version "1.0," marking its official exit from Early Access.
Multi-platform expansion has been constant: it arrived on PS5 in 68 countries in September 2024 (and in Japan in October), and on macOS in March 2025. Furthermore, the universe is expanding with the announcement of Palworld: Palfarm, a spin-off focused on relaxed farm life, which will be available on Steam in eleven languages.
Behind all this growth is a solid corporate structure. In July 2024, Palworld Entertainment was created, a joint venture between Pocketpair, Sony Music Entertainment Japan, and Aniplex. And in October of the same year, Krafton, the South Korean developer, signed a licensing agreement to bring the IP to mobile platforms.
Of course, we cannot forget the long shadow of the elephant in the room: the patent infringement lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Pocketpair has confirmed that some changes in game patches v0.3.11 and v0.5.5 were due to this ongoing litigation. A reminder that, in the world of pocket monsters, competition is fierce even outside the game.
With this move, Palworld demonstrates that its ambition goes beyond being a viral success. It wants to build a transmedia empire, and its foray into card games is a fundamental piece of that puzzle. We'll just have to wait until July to see if its cards are as successful as its pixels.
