Is Senran Kagura giving in to censorship? Project N announced without fanservice.
Marvelous announced Project N, a new Senran Kagura game that will leave classic fanservice behind.

Get your tissues ready, because today is a sad day for true men of culture. The legendary Senran Kagura saga, famous for giving us hours of frantic combat and impact physics, is officially dead as we knew it. Marvelous has just dropped the bombshell that the franchise will undergo a total reboot to fit into the famous "modern era." Yes, that means exactly what you’re imagining: they are going to tone down the blatant fanservice that put the franchise on the global map.
Project N and the fear of the modern age
All this drama exploded thanks to an interview hidden in their most recent art book. There, character designer Nan Yaegashi and producer HPG spoke openly about the future. They swear that the saga always tried to be serious and cool at its core, but admit that times change and aesthetic adjustments must be made to avoid being left behind. The goal is to climb out of the mobile gaming pit and conquer consoles once again, but with a more "acceptable" style. The new project is titled Project N and takes place three years after the end of Shinovi Masters. We will see the return of familiar faces like Gekko and Senko, accompanied by brand-new waifus and redesigns that, according to the team, will maintain the essence of the kunoichis without crossing the line of modesty.
The end of clothing-damage battles
Hardcore fans are already crying foul on the forums. For the vast majority, the main draw of these fighting games was always the absurd fun and outfits tearing mid-screen. Stripping that away to follow current design trends feels like a slap in the face to the niche audience that literally kept them alive all these years through merchandise purchases. Many already have their fingers on the trigger, accusing them of implementing corporate censorship just to avoid being canceled in the West. For now, the studio hasn't shown a single drop of gameplay and is still evaluating which platforms it will be released on. The only thing for sure is that the classic model of anime girls fighting without inhibitions is a thing of the past.
What do you think? Do you believe cleaning up the game's image was strictly necessary for its survival, or did they simply betray their own fanbase?
