Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku Reveals New Character and Broadcast Changes
The anime's second season introduces Shija, a mysterious ninja, and adjusts its broadcast schedule

A New Face Joins the Search
The mystery surrounding the island in Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku deepens with the arrival of a new character. This is Shija, a ninja from the Iwagakure clan, whose introduction in episode 17 maintained an intriguing veil over their gender. Now, the production has confirmed that the talented Ayumu Murase will be the voice behind the character, adding another layer of anticipation to this enigmatic figure.
Changes in TV Programming
Starting with the next episode, the anime will experience an adjustment to its broadcast schedule. The series will move to Sundays at 24:33, which in practice means 12:33 a.m. on Monday. This change is due to TV Tokyo's special programming, which will dedicate that slot to its Sports Real & Live program, covering the Winter Olympics, among other sporting events.
The Creative Team Shaping the Hellish Paradise
Behind this second season remains a solid creative core. Kaori Makita returns to the director's chair at MAPPA studios, while Akira Kindaichi continues to handle the series scripts. For character design, Akitsugu Hisagi repeats his work, and the sound atmosphere is once again in the hands of Yoshiaki Dewa.
There are also new additions to the technical team. Chika Toda, known for her work as assistant director of photography on productions like Jujutsu Kaisen, now takes on the role of director of photography and composition. Meanwhile, Junichi Higashi becomes the new art director, bringing his experience from series like Fairy Gone.
The Music Accompanying the Journey
The soundtrack for this season promises to leave its mark. The opening is handled by Tatsuya Kitani in collaboration with BABYMETAL, with the theme "Kasuka na Hana" (Faint Flower). For the ending of each episode, the band Queen Bee performs "PERSONAL", closing each chapter with their distinctive style.
A Story of Redemption and Survival
At the heart of Jigokuraku beats the story of Gabimaru, a ninja who longs to escape his violent past. Captured and sentenced to death, he discovers that his training has made him virtually immortal, surviving all kinds of executions. It is the executioner Sagiri Asaemon who offers him a way out: a mission to find the elixir of immortality in exchange for his freedom. What begins as a quest transforms into a struggle for survival on a paradisiacal island that hides unimaginable horrors.
The Legacy of the Manga and Its Adaptations
The original work by Yūji Kaku was serialized in Shonen Jump+ between 2018 and 2021, establishing itself as a success that transcended the pages. Its anime adaptation has not been the only extension of its universe. In February 2024, the second stage play based on the manga, titled Hell's Paradise -Tsui no Shō- (Final Chapter), was presented in Tokyo and Kyoto.
Furthermore, fans can immerse themselves in this world through Hell's Paradise: Paradise Battle, a survival role-playing game available for iOS, Android, and Windows, which allows them to experience the story from another perspective.
Where to Follow the Season
The second season of Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku continues its broadcast, available in Japan through TV Tokyo and, with a 30-minute delay, on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Lemino. For the international audience, Crunchyroll offers the simulcast, keeping viewers up to date with the latest episodes.
