From Waifus to Racers: The Surreal Uma Musume and Initial D Crossover
Uma Musume waifus receive a radical redesign for the Initial D arcade game.

Sometimes the video game industry gives us collaborations that no one asked for, but that absolutely everyone needs. This time it was SEGA who decided to blow our minds by announcing a completely surreal crossover. Get ready to step on the gas, because the adorable waifus from Uma Musume Pretty Derby have just invaded the dangerous mountain roads of the popular game Initial D THE ARCADE.
A redesign that broke the internet
From April 9th until the end of July, players of this successful driving arcade will be able to obtain super exclusive cosmetic items based on three of the franchise's most iconic characters: Special Week, Silence Suzuka, and Tokai Teio. But what truly made the otaku community explode on social media wasn't the clothing itself, but the radical style change the girls underwent. Gone are their shiny outfits and cute faces; they now sport a street racing aesthetic so gritty and realistic that many fans thought it was a late April Fool's joke. In fact, Japanese forums are full of comments claiming that these car-drifting versions look a thousand times more intimidating than in their original anime.

Legendary drifting to the rhythm of Umapyoi Densetsu
Seeing these two worlds of speed collide is a true spectacle. On one hand, we have the magic and concerts of horse girls, and on the other, the raw 90s drift culture that defined an entire generation. And to put the cherry on top of this event, the collaboration doesn't just include profile avatars; it will allow you to burn rubber while listening to the legendary anthem Umapyoi Densetsu as background music during your races.
Knowing that this madness is now a reality, what other sports or music anime franchise would you like to see featured in the modified cars of Initial D?
