Vaundy and yama will bring the anime to life through music

What makes an anime memorable before you even watch it? The music, without a doubt. The new trailer for Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Yomi no Tsugai) introduces us to two themes that promise to stick in our heads:

  • Opening: "Tobu Toki" (Time to Fly) by Vaundy
  • Ending: "Tobō yo" (Let's Fly) by yama

Both songs share a theme of flight and freedom, something that fits perfectly with the mysterious tone of this story. ?

New voices join the cast

The promotional video revealed four additions to the cast that have us pretty excited:

  • Takako Honda as "Left"
  • Rikiya Koyama as "Right"
  • Miyuri Shimabukuro as Hana
  • Junichi Suwabe as Jin

These names join a main cast that already includes Kenshō Ono (Yuru), Yume Miyamoto (Asa), Yūichi Nakamura (Dera), and Misaki Kuno (Gabu-chan).

What is this story about?

In a remote mountain village protected by two stone guardians, young Yuru lives peacefully off the land alongside his only family: Asa, his beloved twin sister. But here's where it gets interesting...

Asa fulfills a mysterious "duty" for the village while remaining locked in a cage. Why is she a prisoner? What dark secrets does this apparent rural paradise hide? The creator of Fullmetal Alchemist has something big in store for us.

The team behind the project

When we talk about talent, this anime spares no expense:

  • Direction: Masahiro Andō (Sword of the Stranger)
  • Studio: bones film
  • Scripts: Noboru Takagi (Kingdom, Golden Kamuy)
  • Character Design: Nobuhiro Arai (Bungo Stray Dogs)
  • Music: Kenichiro Suehiro (Golden Kamuy, Re:ZERO)

The additional team includes Koji Sugiura and Yoshiyuki Ito on demon design, while Kazuhiro Wakabayashi handles sound direction.

Dates and where to watch

Mark your calendars: April 4 at 11:30 p.m. (Japan time) on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV. It will later arrive on other networks such as HTB Hokkaido TV and Miyagi TV.

For those in Japan, March 22 will feature an advance screening with a Q&A session at the Shinjuku Picadilly theater in Tokyo, broadcast live to cinemas across the country.

The best news? Crunchyroll will have the initial exclusive streaming of the anime, which will air for two consecutive cours (approximately six months).

The manga that inspired it all
