The official website for the anime adaptation of the light novel series, Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle, released a statement this Friday to confirm the future of the franchise. Immediately following the back-to-back broadcast of episodes 11, 12, and 13 on Japanese television, the production committee formally announced that the series will feature a second block of episodes (cour), which is scheduled to air sometime later this year, 2026.

Production of this romantic comedy and school drama remains at the animation studio feel., guaranteeing perfect visual and narrative continuity for the upcoming chapters. The announcement highlighted the creative team lineup that will continue leading this second half, ensuring that the pace of the school story stays faithful to the source material:

  • Yuji Tokuno as Director.

The director (known for his work on key episodes of Oshi no Ko) resumes leadership of the project to guide the emotional evolution of the students in this second part.

  • Naruhisa Arakawa in Series Composition.

The experienced writer in charge of structuring the overall script for the animated adaptation, ensuring that school events flow naturally on screen.

  • Sumie Kinoshita in Character Design.

The artist responsible for adapting the original illustrations to animation, maintaining the expressiveness and visual appeal of the student cast.

  • Hiromu as Co-writer.

The author of the original work is directly involved in writing the television scripts alongside Arakawa to keep the vision of his story intact.

About the work

The story originated as a successful light novel series written by Hiromu and illustrated by raemz, published in Japan under the popular Gagaga Bunko imprint by Shogakukan. The work quickly stood out within the saturated high school rom-com genre by featuring a male protagonist who, far from being an outcast, is genuinely popular and successful, providing a fresh twist on the social interactions presented in the plot. The rapid confirmation of this second cour demonstrates the strong audience response to the initial episodes.

Synopsis of Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle

The plot introduces us to the life of Saku Chitose, a second-year student at the prestigious Fujishi High School, located in Fukui Prefecture. Unlike most protagonists in the genre, Saku is the most popular boy in school: he has outstanding grades, excels athletically, and completely dominates his social life. Surrounded by an enviable and attractive circle of friends, Saku constantly draws the attention of the entire school, for better or worse. However, his comfortable and perfect school life takes an unexpected turn at the start of the spring term when his teachers assign him a difficult mission: he must help a classmate who has become a total social recluse (hikikomori) to reintegrate into school. Through this task, Saku will discover that other people's lives are much more complicated than they seem from the top of the social pyramid.

Considering Saku's unreachable social status, what kind of unconventional methods do you think he will use in this second cour to get his lonely classmate to step foot in a classroom again?
