Chainsmoker Cat confirms July premiere and reveals its incredible voice cast

Cigarette smoke and everyday clutter are set to take over the small screen with a proposal that breaks the mold of "animal girls." The animated adaptation of Yani Neko (also known as Chainsmoker Cat) confirmed this Thursday its official release date for the upcoming July 2nd, becoming one of the highlights of the summer season.

Based on the popular manga by Nyan Nyan Factory serialized in Kodansha'sYoung Magazine, the series unveiled a new promotional image reflecting the chaotic lifestyle of its protagonist. To bring this story to the anime format, Bibury Animation Studio has recruited a technical team led by director Taku Kimura and screenwriter Takashi Aoshima.

The misadventures of a catgirl and her bad habits

The plot of this work immerses us in a world where humans and catgirls coexist with total normality, although Yani's life is not exactly exemplary. Yani is a cat girl whose existence revolves around her heavy addiction to tobacco; her apartment is a monument to cigarette butts and clutter. Although she tries to improve her situation, her willpower usually crumbles at the first attempt. This slice-of-life comedy follows her interactions with equally peculiar neighbors, childhood friends, and the constant internal struggles against her own vices.
