In the not-so-distant future, five mysterious portals appear, each one a gateway to the same world in a different, competing timeline. Z/X IGNITION is an anime where the survival of these parallel worlds hangs in the balance, with their inhabitants locked in a desperate conflict to ensure their own future continues to exist.

The fate of these timelines is tied to powerful card-shaped devices known as Z/X, which summon beings from these alternate worlds. The anime follows a group of characters who are drawn into this multiversal war, exploring themes of destiny, coexistence, and the heavy price of survival as alliances are tested and the true nature of the portals is revealed.
