Cardfight!! Vanguard follows Aichi Sendo, a timid middle school student whose life is defined by quiet solitude. His one treasure is the Blaster Blade card, a memento from his past. This card is his gateway to the global phenomenon of Vanguard, a strategic card game set on the fantastical planet of Cray.

Drawn into its world, Aichi finds friendship and purpose alongside fellow fighters like Misaki Tokura and Kamui Katsuragi. His driving ambition, however, is to face the skilled and aloof Kai Toshiki, the enigmatic player who first inspired him. Through thrilling card battles and personal growth, this anime explores themes of friendship, rivalry, and finding one's own strength.
